商品簡介 |
In this work, the author lays particular stress on the social and economic implications of rural industrialisation, rather than on purely economic planning and the structure of industrial systems. This approach has been adopted because already now, and increasingly in the years to come, the major socio-economic problem in rural Asia is to provide jobs and income for that very large proportion of economically underpriveleged people who are unable to make any major contribution to the national economy, or even to meet their own needs for subsistence from the land. It is hoped that planners on a national or international scale, who are generally urban-based, will accept these objectives as part of an overall plan to integrate urban and rural economic development, and to stem mass emigration from rural areas to urban centres in search of elusive employment. |
