Disability is of concern to us all. However, whilst much progress has been made in the range of practical solutions available for the physical limitations of the disabled person and great strides have been taken towards equality of opportunity, scant attention has been paid to the felt experience of the disabled person and the ways in which psychotherapy may be constructively employed. This book directly addresses this gap and, taking a life-span perspective and a psychoanalytic approach, actively explores the challenges and opportunities of disability to psychotherapy, the caring professions and, more widely, to society.
