Professor Jao Tsung-I is an expert in Dunhuang Studies and Cultural History. He is currently Professor Emeritus of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, Honorary Chair Professor of Wei-Lun’s Forum, Honorary Professor of the Department of Fine Arts and the Institute of Chinese Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, as well as an Honorary Professor in Chinese Studies of the University of Hong Kong.
Professor Jao is a great master in Chinese Cultures. He has published more than 60 academic books, 500 academic articles, 20 collections of poetries and essays in all sorts of traditional styles written by him and more than 10 albums of his Chinese paintings and calligraphic works.
This exhibition catalogue consists of 68 works by the Four Masters of Lingnan: Master Zhao Shao-and, Yang Shan-sum, Li Xiong-cai and Guan Shan-yue. This not only records the deep and valued friendship between Professor Jao and the Four Masters of Lingnan, but also their cooperative paintings are definitely important Chinese art treasures.
