The geographical scope covers the area bounded by 75o to 150oE. Longitude and 20o to 50oN. Latitude, but extending to adjacent regions when data are relevant to the core area. The geological time scale runs from early to mid-Tertiary up to the emergence of man, but reaching back to earlier periods when considered relevant. The essays included in these volumes represent the work of scientists of different disciplines examining the sequence of changing geological and climatological factors and the parallel evolution of biological ecosystems and their component plant and animal genera and species. |
