This report describes the methodology and major findings of a survey of household energy consumption in Hong Kong carried out as part of the IDRC-supported project (3-P-88-0123-03) related to the Urban Energy Consumption and Air pollution Network (Asia). The survey was carried out between June and September 1989. A total of 481 households in five locations in the territory were interviewed regarding their patterns of fuel use, fuel expenditures, appliance ownership and socio-economic characteristics. Four of these locations are public housing estates, and the fifth, a rural village. The report provides useful information on energy consumption among the types of households interviewed during the 1980s.
