This book draws primarily on the papers presented at a conference on environmental education that took place in Hong Kong in late 2001. The contributors are drawn from both Hong Kong and a number of overseas countries. The objective of the conference was to explore new directions for environmental education in Hong Kong and specifically the transition away from conventional modes of environmental education to a model based on education for sustainable development. Overseas contributors include Professor Walter Leal Filho (Germany), Dr John Fien (Australia), Professor John Cogan (United States), Professor Somwung Pitiyanuwat (Thailand) and Ms Paula Owens (UK). Local authors include Dr Eric Tsang (HKIE), Benjamin Leung (Baptist Rainbow Primary School) and Gordon Maxwell (OUHK).
