近年我的工作越來越繁重，又要兼顧家庭崗位，因此已經很少有空餘時間到郊外散心，欣賞大自然的美景了。當永健寄上《綠色香港——生態欣賞與認識》一書，看到一群充滿幹勁的年青人介紹香港生態旅遊路線時，我不禁有放下工作、投入自然的衝動。最近收到永健的電郵，知道《生態悠悠行——綠色香港（二）》即將出版，並得到邀請寫序，我感到十分高興。
本書除了為大家提供多姿多采的生態旅遊路線外，也希望讀者能夠認識、欣賞和研究大自然，更寄語大家要身體力行，積極保護自然環境。
本書對教師和學生來說也是一本不可多得的環境教育教材。環境教育的主題是「認識環境」、「在環境中學習」和「關心環境」。「認識環境」主要是瞭解人與環境的關係、生態的相關概念，以及景觀內的人文特色；「在環境中學習」是投入大自然的懷抱，透過欣賞和考察，掌握生態環境的規律和學會探究自然的技能；「關心環境」是培養對大自然的保護意識，並透過日常生活減少對大自然的破壞。本書的內容和定位可說是超越一般旅遊書，寓遊覽於教育。
我希望這群年青人的努力，能促進大家對生態旅遊的重視，並期望第三冊的出現。

This book, which is a follow up on the success from the first book Green Hong Kong（《綠色香港——生態欣賞與認識》）, that was published in 2005, represents a milestone in an effort to create awareness, generate appreciation and educate the public on the protection of the natural environment that is abundant in Hong Kong. While the theme of that book was undeniably ecotourism, the present volume highlights the fact that there is the need to study and educate the people on geographical landforms and general scientific phenomena upon which nature exist.
The concept of protecting nature for inherent beauty, cultural and biological significance has been identified many centuries ago. But it is within the last century that people collectively realized the importance of its intrinsic value. As many pcome exposed to the natural environment, governments and decision makers realized the growing trend and established frameworks for protection and conservation. This is the essence of what is called national parks in many countries and country and marine parks in Hong Kong. Collectively, they are termed protected areas. Although Green Hong Kong II（《生態悠悠行——綠色香港（二）》） identifies environmental concepts like greenhouse effect, urban heat island, succession, nutrient cycling, etc., it is discussed in such a way that the general public will be comfortable reading it. The addition of such scientific themes makes Green Hong Kong II（《生態悠悠行——綠色香港（二）》） more than just a book that identifies ecotourism routes but identifies information that will help in efforts to reduce the negative impact on the natural environment.
