一九五一年底某一天，潘鎮球校長與母親首次踏進聖保羅男女中學的校長室，自此與聖保羅結下不解之緣。他從小學二年級開始在聖保羅男女中學附屬小學唸書，直至一九六三年修業完畢，之後入讀香港大學中文系，畢業後投身教育事業。 四十多年後，潘校長再次步入聖保羅男女中學的校長室，但這一次再不是以學生或校友身分，而是候任校長。他自一九九九年九月開始，帶領聖保羅走過充滿變革與挑戰的關鍵五年，由推動聖保羅成為全港首間轉制直資的傳統名校，以至落實小學新校舍計劃等，歷盡艱辛，排除萬難，為聖保羅日後的卓越發展奠下了厚實的根基。 《信望愛常存》收錄了潘校長於五年任期內的早會講辭、重要演講與政策文獻，以及他退休後所撰寫與母校有關的文章，字字記載着聖保羅男女中學的發展軌跡，以及潘校長的心路歷程，一筆一墨皆在傳承聖保羅的「信、望、愛」精神。 In 1951, Principal Poon Chun Kau and his mother stepped inside the Principal’s Office of St. Paul’s Co-educational College (SPCC) for the very first time; and fate has since tied him to the School. He was admitted to Primary Two at St. Paul's Co-educational College Primary School and stayed there till 1963. He then went on to study Chinese at The University of Hong Kong, and later started pursuing a career in the field of education. Some 40 years later, Principal Poon was again inside SPCC’s Principal’s Office, this time not as a student or an alumnus, but as the principal-designate. Since September 1999, he had led the school through a number of ups and downs in the following five years. These include advancing SPCC’s transformation to the Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) and implementing the construction of a new campus for the Primary School, to name but a few. His endeavours laid a solid foundation for SPCC’s growth and her path to excellence. “On Faith, Hope and Love” is a compilation of Principal Poon’s assembly talks, speeches and policy papers during his five-year term, as well as his post-retirement writings related to SPCC. Not only is it a record of SPCC’s development, but it also details Principal Poon’s personal struggles and endeavors throughout this period. Each and every word does nothing less than passing on the spirit of “Faith, Hope and Love”.
