Faced with tragedy, Mikal searches for answers as he tries to unravel the secret of life's greatest mystery: the tenuous border between life and death. The journey leads him to the dark art of Necromancy, a sacred practice defiled by those who ignore its solemn obligations, seeking only to advance their own power. Branded by their callous actions, Mikal's quest is constantly hindered as he is forced to hide his true calling.

Traveling down the well-worn path of righteous justice provides Rina with a rare bit of solace in a harsh world. The line between good and evil is perfectly clear, and she treads confidently along its razor-edge, secure in the knowledge that her actions are influenced by a higher power.

Rina's dreams are shattered when The Order rejects her plea for admission, casting her adrift without a compass to guide her. Surrender is not in Rina's nature, however, and she soon sets out on a mission to earn her rightful place. Several small victories reassure her that she's once again on the right track, but still very far from gaining the favor she needs. Killing the foul Necromancer she discovered would definitely be enough...

Conflict forces the two enemies into an alliance neither of them wants but can't avoid. Circumstances push them even closer together-but there's a cost. Only a miracle can repair the damage they've done to each other, and while its Rina's life that hangs in the balance, Mikal may have even more to lose.
