In the 1950s, Andy Warhol was living as a commercial illustrator in New York City. Soon he was painting Coca-Cola bottles, dollar bills and Campbells Soup cans. He certainly wasnt the first to make or exhibit a Pop painting, but Warhol soon became a brand name himself, synonymous with the new art form. And Pop Art itself became synonymous with everything youthful, subversive, bright and fresh.
