Sajan George Perepparambil argues that this text is not a problem to be solved, but rather a mystery to be understood, best done by interpreting it with John himself or by thinking it through in the context of John's Gospel itself. Using intra-textual connections to pinpoint the intertextuality of the text and interpreting it in its conceptual, literary, and historical contexts, the author provides a new perspective with particular consideration of the way motif.
